Happy 4th of July! I hope and pray you all have a FABULOUS 4th – full of food, friends, family, fireworks and fun! {How’s that for some alliteration?!} We typically spend the afternoon at the beach, and stay till the Fireworks show (that is put on right next to us) is over.  We LOVE it!  So relaxing, casual (I don’t have to cook fancy foods! or host/entertain at my house!), peaceful and fun!  (though … Read entire article »

Happy Good Friday!

Happy Good Friday!

I have this picture on my dining room wall. Several years ago, my husband and I went out for coffee at a Christian coffee shop, and this picture was hanging in their little gift shop. I could not take my eyes off it all night! I mentioned it to my husband, and he surprised me at Christmas with it a few months later. Why couldn’t I keep my eyes off it? I grew up in church … Read entire article »

The Peaceful Mom: Becoming Desperate

The Peaceful Mom: Becoming Desperate

I just HAD to share this with you today! Kimberlee – over at The Peaceful Mom – has written a transparent post today about a desperate (and depressed) time in her life. Are you struggling as well? Has depression hit you like a mac truck – or maybe rolled in like a storm front? You are not alone! We’ve all been there to varying degrees.  I’ve been in what seemed like a slippery slope into the pit of hell a … Read entire article »

Do you know WHO you are?

I love thinking about how intricately God designed us – designed me! Even down to my name – having my parents choose the name Lori (meaning – Victorious one!) for me. He didn’t leave any detail undone! I was watching my cat yesterday, sitting in the window sill, enjoying the breeze coming in from the open, screened in window, but at the same time – longing to be outside – to be chasing the birds she would see in the yard, to be running around in the grass – nibbling on it, exploring, tasting, smelling, chasing, crouching, playing (with other cats), running – free! I could tell it was driving her crazy to be inside – especially with the windows open! It looked liked torture –to be … Read entire article »

Shame – Read my lips. . . .NO Condemnation!

Ok – here’s my first attempt at putting an audio file on my blog! You will probably want to go down and hit “pause” on the music player so that you can listen to this. I will also see if I am able to post it so you can download the file – and then put it on your ipod or mp3 player to listen to on the go! Here I go – diving a bit deeper into the world of technology! 🙂 This teaching was one that the Lord recently allowed me to do at our church’s Women’s Immersion Weekend – all about our Identity in Christ. I was one of 4 speakers. In preparing for this topic, the Lord showed and taught me alot … Read entire article »

Have Peace? . . . Are you Free?

“There is no peace unless we are free!” I had never watched the Academy award winning movie Joan of Arc (with Ingrid Bergman), but felt compelled to check it out at our library the other day. Sad to say, I really didn’t know much about this heroine – but felt like I should. I cried off and on the first 30 minutes or more of the movie! It wasn’t the acting, the script, the cinematography . . . it was the eerily similar calling and revelations in her life compared to mine (except – hopefully – not to burn at the stake!). Hers was to help set the people of France free from the English who had invaded her country. Who was she? Just a young (teenage) peasant farm … Read entire article »

Jesus loves me this I know . . .

We ALL know the children’s song “Jesus loves me”! We probably can’t even count the number of times we have sung that song throughout our lifetime . . . 100 times? 200? 1000? More? Jesus loves me this I know. For the Bible tells me so.Little ones to Him belong. They are weak, but He is strong. Yes . . . Jesus loves me.Yes . . . Jesus loves me.Yes . . . Jesus loves me.The Bible tells me so. I had an interesting conversation with one of my sisters recently. She has been struggling with severe anxiety and depression for several months now, but the Lord has been graciously healing her and is slowly bringing her out of the deepest valley she has ever experienced. She is … Read entire article »

Twilight – To read/watch or not?

One of the bloggers I occasionally follow recently posted a question to her readers that I was definitely interested in. I was looking forward to reading everyone’s comments about this topic – a controversial one within the Christian community (We have alot of “controversial topics” – don’t we? Jesus himself was controversial in His time too!). It was on the topic of the books and movie – “Twilight”. Here’s her post on Praise and Coffee. Below is my response to her query. Don’t be afraid to go DEEP! Lori 🙂 I’ve been reading the GREATEST love story ever!! I can’t get enough of it! It is full of mystery, wars, lust, adultery, betrayal, miracles, death, and more! Have you read it?! . . . If not – … Read entire article »
