Intimate Friendship with God

I just found a book review I did when I was in YWAM (Youth With a Mission) doing a DTS (Discipleship Training School) when I was 19 years old – in Lausanne, Switzerland. The book was “Intimate Friendship with God” by Joy Dawson. This was written at a time in my life when God was rescuing me (from myself and my self-destruction) and changing me – breaking me, shaping me, molding me into something more beautiful! I thought I would share it with you to encourage you to read this book for yourself (and I may just have to dig out my copy of Joy’s book and reread it). Take a drink from the deep today! Lori 🙂 Intimate Friendship with God by Joy Dawson Jan. 1990 DTS Out of the 16 chapters in this … Read entire article »

God’s Plan for your Life!

< ![endif]–> While driving in the car recently, Jeremy and I were talking about the future – what God has for us, etc. I don’t really recall all of what we were saying or talking about – but Jeremy must have said something about not knowing what God’s plan was for his life, or if he was doing what he was supposed to be doing. All of a sudden, our 11 year old son piped up and said “Dad . . . I think God procrastinated on your life plan!” 🙂 We busted up laughing! 🙂 Do you ever feel that way? That God may have “procrastinated on your life plan”? Do you feel like you don’t know WHAT God has for you? Or did you have dreams long ago, but now you … Read entire article »

In over your head

God had showed me a vision on Sunday during worship. We were like the Israelites – we have been set free (from Egypt/bondage/saved from that which enslaved us) – and we are on our way in life. . . but we have come up against the Red Sea – an impossible situation. We feel trapped – our enemies are on our back and it seems that there is no way to go – no way out of this. What use was our salvation/freedom if this is what is going to happen?!! When this happened to the Israelites- they wanted to just go back to Egypt – where at least they would have food, shelter and wouldn’t die like this. Yes, they would be in slavery/bondage – but that would … Read entire article »

Perfection

I wanted to post my own personal testimony that I shared with my local MOPS group a few weeks ago. Sometimes you come across blogs or websites that you like – but wonder – who is this person writing all this really? Well – there are no secrets here! Satan likes to keep us in bondage through our secrets – and I, for one, am fed up with it! I am loving the freedom that Christ died on the cross to give me -and I want more of it! I know that God LOVES to take what the enemy meant for evil, and use it for good – to change lives, to set people free, to minister to our broken hearts, and more! You’ve got to read my other post called … Read entire article »

Your Father’s Love

Catch the Fire!

I have thoroughly been enjoying the Catch the Fire conference at CBN this week (click the link to watch online). God has been touching so many lives – healing people from physical sickness and pain as well as emotional, mental and spiritual issues. God is AWESOME!!! I know that many people are leary and unsure about all the “manifestations” – the shaking, falling down, laughing, etc that goes on at the Toronto Airport Christian Fellowship and the Catch the Fire Ministries. I was too at first. However, I loved what Duncan Smith said tonight at the conference about it! He said “I’m a man that is just trying to cope with God on the inside of my skin!” Just imagine . . . the God of the whole universe … Read entire article »

Redesigning your shackles and chains

Redesigning your shackles and chains

Are you tired of wearing shackles and chains . . . . . . of feeling bound up . . . unable to get free from things in your past, in the present, or even worries about the future? What is it that is keeping you from living in freedom? Current or past sins? Unforgiveness? Anger? Hurts? Abuse? Doubt? Fear? Whatever it is . . . do you believe that God can help you break free? And not only that . … Read entire article »

The Super Bowl and the Super-Natural

I’ve said it before . . . but this year I want my family to live in the supernatural! I am tired of the ordinary. I believe God is calling all of us to live more in His presence than ever before! He WANTS to release His power to perform miracles (healings, provision and more). He wants to release His power to transform lives. Time is crucial! There is no more time to be sitting around on the sidelines just waiting for things to happen. We have to get out there and bring in the harvest. We need to minister to those around us. We need to get our eyes off of ourselves – our selfish desires, our needs and wants, our “future ministry” – and focus on the … Read entire article »

Today is a day to Fight!

Yesterday was a good day! I woke up for church and hopped in the shower as usual. I wasn’t terribly excited about going to church. Lately it had has felt like . . . church . . . like religion. . . not like the living, active, exciting, ever-changing relationship and celebration that it used to be. I don’t want church. I don’t want to start off with a hymn, sing 3 worship songs – 1 slow, 1 upbeat and 1 multi-cultural, then sit down, watch and listen to the announcements, give our tithe, say hello to everyone as we shuffle off the kids to their classes, then sit and listen to the pastor preach a good sermon, but end on time so as to keep the … Read entire article »
